OUR FARM
Meet Our Farmer: Justin Head
Justin Head comes from a long line of farmers, with roots that run deep on both sides of his family. Growing up surrounded by conventional farming practices, he witnessed firsthand how traditional methods could take a toll on the land. Feeling a strong conviction to make a difference, Justin chose a different path. In 2015, he made the switch to organic farming and has since become the only organic farmer in Robertson County, steadily expanding his farm's footprint and impact.
At the heart of Justin’s farming philosophy is regenerative farming – a practice centered on nurturing the soil. It’s about ensuring that the ground is enriched by the plants growing on it and the animals fertilizing it. This approach requires dedication to keeping the soil alive, active, and full of nutrients. And it doesn’t stop there. Justin is committed to keeping pests at bay naturally, avoiding harmful chemicals and fostering a harmonious blend of plants and wildlife.
Every part of our farm ecosystem, from the tiniest insect to the tallest stalk, works together to create a thriving, balanced environment. Our pasture-raised animals are supplemented with organic grains, ensuring their health and delivering meat that’s not only nutrient-rich but also free from pesticides and antibiotics.
At Smokin’ Oaks, we care deeply about the quality of the products we offer our customers. We go the extra mile to ensure that what we provide is truly healthy for you and your family. By steering clear of synthetic chemicals, we raise our cows without the use of harmful pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizers.
